The Research Triangle Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), has established a scholarship in memory of William M. Alston.
PURPOSE OF SCHOLARSHIP:
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to an individual seeking educational opportunities.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIP:
Applicants for the Scholarship must be a member or the dependent of a member in good standing of the Research Triangle Chapter – ISACA.
a) A member in good standing is an individual whose chapter dues are current.
b) A member in good standing has attended at least two (2) training sessions and one chapter meeting in the current chapter year or,
c) A member in good standing has attended at least two (2) training sessions in the current chapter year and has contributed to the chapter through their active participation on the Board or as a chapter volunteer.
Note: Scholarship awards are granted with out regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability, or national origin.
CONDITIONS OF SCHOLARSHIP:
- All awards are for undergraduate or graduate study only.
- The scholarship will be made payable to the student and the college or university they choose to attend.
- The scholarship award is applicable to one school year term only. However, recipients may re-apply in subsequent years.
- Only one application per member per year in good standing.
- Preference is given to applicants:
that are submitting their first application,
are attending an accredited college or university within the state of North Carolina,
whose degree program concentrates on Information Technology or Business.

The amount of the William M. Alston Memorial Scholarship(s) award is US $500 (Five hundred) for each applicant or a total of $1,000 to be distributed to two (2) qualified applicants who meet all of the stated requirements. The scholarship award will be made payable in the name of the recipient and the college or university.
Initial application forms may be submitted electronically or by mail to the Chapter address. The initial application, by whatever means submitted, must be received no later than May 31 of each year. All supporting documentation must be submitted by mail (electronic submission of supporting documentation will not be accepted) to the Chapter address, received no later than June 15 of each year. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Selection will be made by the William M. Alston Memorial Scholarship Committee. This committee is appointed by the current chapter President for a one-year term. All decisions made by this Committee shall be considered final. All applicants will be notified as to the final status of their application. The recipient will receive the scholarship at the monthly Chapter meeting to be held in June or by mail if unable to attend.
